“The world’s best rum, handcrafted using the first pressing of virgin Trinidadian sugar cane, never molasses.”
10 Cane is a created by luxury spirits producer Moet Hennessey and is touted as “rum’s redemption”.
I think this is a decent rum. I know a lot of people who don’t like it at all, but I’ve always enjoyed it. I generally drink it over ice with a wedge of lime and it’s been a welcome companion for many hot summer days. The flavor is clean and kind of smokey, a bit like the color which isn’t so much clear as it is a very light straw color. It seems to be a much sharper flavor when it’s neat, but the ice mellows it quite a bit and reveals it to be rather smooth and full-bodied.
The price has always been an issue for me, since I generally get this when I’m out and it’s status as “Premium” always causes bars to hit me hard in the wallet for a single glass. By the bottle the price isn’t so bad and I usually get it for around $25.
I give this rum anything but a 10 ranking. It is by definition rum. It is made in steel container and doesn’t use molasses. The special change they made took away from the smooth sweet flavor I have come to love in my rum and replaced it with a Cachaça taste which lingers in my mouth for several minutes.
