Ahoy!
This is a testament to my love of rum, pirates, wenches, and randomness. I could do this all day if only it were profitible. Enjoy. Or don't. Whatever.

Cheers, ya dogs!

Sorry friends. I know it’s been a slow few days, but life-life has required too much of my attention to properly keep things in order here. There will be a return to normal next week.

Monday Catch-up: Captain Jack Sparrow Sightings, Oil Spills, and Fourth of July boredom

Posted on July 5th, 2010

The Black PearlI didn’t really do a Monday Catch-up last week. I was on-call for work all week and generally on-call makes me cranky, crabby, and solely interested in getting as much sleep in between calls. So apologies for the slowness of last week and apologies in advance for future weeks where I’m on-call.

In other news, yesterday was the Fourth of July. And it was boring. Now, I was already planning for boring because I was on-call and that means I really can’t make plans to go out and do anything. But I had hoped that I could stand outside and see some fireworks. Unfortunately we had typical Seattle cloud cover last night so no actual fireworks were seen. Just bursts of colorful haze in the night sky and the “boom boom BOOM crackle” of celebrations going on anyway.

Today I’m off work though, so I’m home drinking copious quantities of rum from a pineapple. Hu-fuckin-zzah!

My foul mood didn’t provide me with much interest in anything, but here are a few things that I didn’t mention last week.

Captain Jack Sparrow has been sighted. Johnny Depp has been caught by paparazzi  all decked out in his pirate attire for Pirates 4. Via PopSugar

BP is ruining our shipwrecks. In addition to fucking up the wildlife and the coastal wetlands, the BP Oil Spill is also threatening the historic shipwrecks that rest in the depths of the Gulf of Mexico. Via Huliq

Morocco was pirate central. I’ve always wanted to go to Morocco and this article on Morocco’s pirate history only fuels that fire. Via Financial Times

Image info: WhyIsTheRumGone.com’s tiki consultant sent me a picture of what he says is the Black Pearl. He’s on vacation in Hawaii and says it’s visible from his hotel room and that he was going to be taking better pictures. The one in this post is from his cell phone and is a bit… Loch Ness Monster-y

Queen Anne’s Revenge is docked in Hawaii.

LiveForFilms has a number of pictures of the Queen Anne’s Revenge that will be featured in Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides. The Queen Anne’s Revenge is the ship that Blackbeard Captained and then grounded off the coast of North Carolina. Head over to LiveForFilms for more images.
