Sorry friends. I know it’s been a slow few days, but life-life has required too much of my attention to properly keep things in order here. There will be a return to normal next week.

About the Friday before last…
It was totally my intention to have some rum reviews going last week. The week before I was all geared up to make the trip to Los Angeles, buy some rum, and do some drinking and reviewing with the crew. Step one went as planned and I made it safely to Los Angeles. Step two went as planned and we bought three bottles of rum and brought out a fourth that my friends had been saving to share with me. Step three was going as planned, but somewhere along the line “drinking and reviewing” turned into “drinking and drinking”. Continuing after the jump…
Today already sucks
It’s only 2am and the day is already crap.
I ordered a handful of WhyIsTheRumGone.com shirts to see the quality. And, though they look ok, I washed one and the shrinkage was pretty fucking bad. Totally caused the printing to warp. Piece of shit.
I spilled chocolate milk in bed.
I spent the last two hours working on something only to find out it’s busted and the guys in the office will fix it tomorrow.
…at least I have good rum. Poured myself a nice portion of Rhum Clément Cuvée Homère that I bought as an early present for myself.
So cheers to that.
Anyone know a good screen printer? In the Seattle area would be nice.
And recommendations for shirts that don’t shrink so damn much would be welcome as well.
Oh… and it would be nice if the shirts came in sizes real men can wear. Most tshirts are rather short. Just because I’m 6′3″ doesn’t mean I should have to buy gigantic sizes just so the shirt reaches my waist. And American Apparel shirts all seem to be designed for rail-thin men. An XL fits my body but the neck strangles me to no end. Best shirts I’ve found, to be honest, are these Merona shirts. They’re comfortable, they look nice, they last a long time, and they’re cheap. Maybe I should just stock up on these…
Fuck it. Drink up!
Rum Review: Rhum Barbancourt 8
In all honesty I think my booze cabinet was dry of rum (with the exception of a bottle of Rogue White tucked away in the back) for nigh on 5 months or so. But last week, in the wake of several momentous life events, I decided the time was right to pick up some rum.
Now, Seattle being part of the great state of Washington, has government run liquor stores. And the selection is… mediocre, at best. One of the few things I miss about living in California is the rum selection. But I stray from the topic…
I picked up three bottles, one of which is the Rhum Barbancourt 8 year Réserve Spéciale. I wasn’t certain if this had ever been reviewed by myself or any of the old crew… but it’s a fresh start, aye? So here it is.
Barbancourt is a product of Haiti, and I’m not entirely certain that makes any difference whatsoever with the exception of the fact that most of the label is printed in both English and French (good to know, really, because wenches love a man who speaks a little frog). Barbancourt’s label proudly touts their founding in 1862, while their website calls their product “The Rum of Connoisseurs, the Cognac of Rums…”
